Invisalign

Many of us at one time or another in our lives wish that our teeth were straight, more healthy and attractive. Some of us may have had braces years ago, but now see that our smile has not remained as it was, or how we would like for it to be today.

Invisalign makes it possible for people to have straight and healthy smiles without the unattractive wires and braces that come with traditional braces.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign uses a series of clear removable aligners to gradually move teeth to their ideal position. No metal or wires are used. Because the aligners are clear, when people wear them they are virtually invisible. They are removable so people can brush and floss their teeth normally without the problems of trying to clean around and under the wires and hardware of traditional braces.

How Does Invisalign Work?

First you will meet with the doctor (me) so that you can tell me what you would like your smile to look like. I will then examine your mouth and tell you if Invisalign can work for you.

Next, impressions and photographs of your teeth are made, and the doctor then works with Invisalign to develop the best treatment plan for you.

The aligners are delivered to our office and your treatment begins. The first set of aligners are delivered to you and everything is checked as we explain what you can expect.

There may be some soreness as you get used to wearing your new aligners. But overall, we hear very few complaints.

The aligners will not move your teeth if they are not in your mouth, so the most important responsibility for you is to wear them all of the time except for when you clean your teeth and have your meals.

We ask that you have the aligners in for twenty two hours a day, every day, without exceptions.

Every two weeks, the old aligners are set aside and new ones added. Your teeth gradually move as your progress is monitored.

For most cases, Invisalign takes less time and is more comfortable than are traditional braces. Most often treatment takes about one year to complete. We will be happy to discuss Invisalign with you and if you like, we can show you photographs of people who we have treated who had similar problems to you.
